Colorado Springs Police arrest a local high school student after Columbine like threats are made:
This is a weird one. A student from Wasson High School, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for allegedly making deadly threats against the school. Here’s where it starts to get weird. He made the threats in the middle of what’s called a C-SAP test, which is far as I can tell is some kind of state standardized testing. During the test he started writing notes that said “I will either drop out, or pull another Columbine shooting, but this time a Wasson shooting.”

From the article…

The student went on to write of committing murder, and blowing up schools, although police said there were no specific student, or teacher targets mentioned. He has been charged with menacing and interference with staff faculty or students.

District 11 Spokesperson Elaine Naleski said, “The monitor was checking the student and noticed that that there was some disturbing things being written about turning Wasson into the next Columbine and getting a gun and shooting on Wasson.”

But it gets even more bizarre. When the police went to the kid’s home to look for weapons they arrested the kid’s mother and stepfather for possession of meth and paraphernalia, and child abuse. Then the mother had an additional charge tacked on of making a death threat against her son in the presence of police.

You might think that I’m going to jump all over the kid, but you’re wrong. My opinion is I don’t think this kid ever planned on any kind of shooting. It sounds like he was in a bad situation at home but didn’t know how to go about doing anything about it. Maybe he knew the cops would search his home for weapons if he made the threats then the cops would find the drugs. Then again I could be wrong. I’m just a guy with a website. But it will be interesting to see how this develops.

If any of my Colorado readers hear anything else about this story please let me know.

As always it was your pleasure.

  1. CSAP - Colorado Student Assessment Program.

I hadn’t heard anything about this. But you may be right. It’s tragic when the kids have more sense of right/wrong than the parents. The mother threatening her son’s life?! What a bitch!

  2. i am on the kids side too…. sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do… i dont blame him one bit….

  3. You’re right on the mark. I think it was the only way for the kid to get out of that house and “save face” with his parents. He was extremely conflicted and needs real good psychiatric help.

  4. im not so sure that he wrote it with the intentions you layed out. I think he may be disturbed due to his upbringing and expunged a ‘cry for help’ letter while bored durring the test. It may very well be that he didnt actually intend on following through with his threats. But I dont think he wrote the words in hopes that someone would see them either. He was probably venting on paper and the dominos fell as they were. Good thing too, because this country needs another meth lab like it needs another columbine.

  5. yeh i donno…. but i just watched this columbine documentary on the histroey channel and now im scared to go to school.
